The operating reality

What makes it hard

A short list of bases becomes a very long list of sellable shades at the dealer counter, so demand is converted at the last step and is hard to read upstream. Raw-material costs follow petrochemical prices and exchange rates. Retail dealers and project customers need different credit and pricing, and hazardous materials add documents at every handoff.

Decorative paint is sold through dealers who hold tinting machines. The plant makes a small set of bases and colorants in several pack sizes, and the dealer mixes thousands of shades to order at the counter. Demand peaks before festivals and in the dry months, and project business from builders and contractors runs alongside the retail counter on different terms.

Industrial coatings and specialty chemicals are made in batches, often to order, from raw materials such as titanium dioxide (TiO₂), resins, solvents and monomers whose prices follow crude oil and exchange rates. Hazardous materials travel with safety data sheets (SDS) and hazard labels, and customers often ask for a certificate of analysis with each batch.

Operational challenges

Where it hurts

Tinting machines down in peak season

A dealer with a broken tinter cannot sell a shade, and the service visit is booked after the complaint.

The wrong base in the wrong pack size

The SKU-shade mix shifts by region and season, so one depot runs out of a base in small packs while another holds the same base in drums.

Raw-material increases arrive fast, cuts arrive slowly

TiO₂, resin and solvent suppliers raise prices quickly and lower them slowly. Without a should-cost view, buyers accept the increase.

Dealer schemes and project discounts stack up

Volume schemes, display incentives and project discounts are granted by different teams, and invoices end up below the price floor.

Project demand arrives without warning

Large orders from builders and contractors land without a pipeline view, and the depot scrambles to fill them.

What FLX4 does about it

Plays for Paints, Coatings & Chemicals

Dealer and tinter intelligence

SalesI tracks tinting-machine health and service schedules, shade demand by territory and the project pipeline by contractor.

Discount and scheme leakage

SalesI flags invoices below the price floor and stacked discounts, and routes scheme claims by amount and risk.

Raw-material should-cost

SourceNest's Paint pack builds should-cost from resin, TiO₂ and solvent price drivers and supports formulation-BOM sourcing with MSDS handling.

Depot and dealer freight

TransNest plans loads with SKU compatibility rules, settles detention from gate logs and audits each freight bill.

Outcomes we measure

What it helps you work toward

Outcomes are measured against a baseline we agree with you in writing.

Shades available at the counter

Tinter uptime and open service tickets per territory in peak months

Base and pack-size availability

Stock-out days by base and pack size, by depot

Raw materials bought at a fair price

Share of resin, TiO₂ and solvent buys above the should-cost band

Discount discipline

Invoices below the price floor or with stacked discounts, by dealer
